काठमाडौं । चलचित्र छक्का पञ्जाको सफलतासंगै निर्देशक दीपा श्री निरौलाले नयाँ कार किनेका छन् । नक्सालमा रहेको होन्डाइको शो रुमबाट उनले रातो रंगको होन्डाईको आइ ट्वान्टी एक्टिभ किनेका हुन् ।यस अघि सिल्भर रंगको सेन्ट्रो चढ्दै आएकी थिईन् । ज्योतिषिको सल्लाह अनुसार चल्ने दीपाले कार किन्दा पनि ज्योतिषकै भनाई अनुसार रंग छनौट र कारको नम्बर पनि छनौट गरिएको छ ।यहाँ सम्मकी कार भित्र्याउने शुभ साइत अपरान्ह ४ बजे तोकिएको थियो । छक्का पञ्जाको टिमको उपहार हो भनेर हाम्रो प्रश्नमा दीपाले भनिन्, “सबैले माया गरेर यो कार किनिदिनु भएको हो । मलाई यो रंगको कार फाप्छ भनेर नी भन्नु भएको छ । ” कारको मुल्य झण्डै ४० लाख पर्न आउछ ।

काठमाडौं, १८ माघ, भूकम्पले ध्वस्त र क्षतिग्रस्त भएका काठमाडौं र ललितपुरका ३१ वटा राणाकालीन दरबार पुरानै शैलीमा निर्माण गर्ने विषयमा सरकारले कुनै चासो देखाएको छैन। पुरातत्व विभागले अधिकांश दरबारको संरचना जस्ताको तस्तै हुने गरी बनाउने जनाए पनि शहरी विकास तथा भवन निर्माण विभागले भत्काएर नयाँ बनाउने इस्टिमेट गर्दै आएको छ । विभागका महानिर्देशक भेषनारायण दाहालले केहि दरबार पुरानै अवस्थामा पुननिर्माण गर्ने र केहिलाइ भत्काएर स्वरुपमा परिवर्तन नहुने गरी तयार गर्ने तयारी भइरहेको बताए। उनले भूकम्पको अति जोखिम रहेको उपत्यकाका सबै राणाकालीन दरबार सबै पुरानै सवरुपमा बनाउन सक्ने अवस्था नभएको स्पष्ट पारे। तर पुरातत्वविद्हरुले नेपालको सम्पदाका रुपमा रहेका राणाकालीन दरबारलाई संरक्षण गर्नुपर्ने बताएका छन्। ‘अहिले मैले सुनेको छ । केशर महल, सिंहमहल, ललिता भवन, बहादुर भवन, हरिहर भवन, श्री महललगायत दर्जनौं राणाकालिन दरबार भत्काएर आधुनिक बनाउने रे ?’ संस्कृति एवं पुरातत्वविद् मुकुन्दराज अर्यालले भने, ‘सरकारको कस्तो तरिका नेपालको इतिहास मेटाएर बवन बनाउने ?’ ‘राणाकालीन दरबार ५ घण्टामा भत्काउन सकिन्छ तर कहिल्यै बनाउन सकिदैन। यस्तो गलत काम सरकारले कहिल्यै गर्नुहुँदैन। इतिहासलाई अनन्तकालसम्म जोगाएर राख्नुपर्छ,’ अर्यालले भने। (नेपाल समाचारपत्र दैनिकबाट)

यदि हामी आफ्नै शारीरिक अंगका बारेमा ध्यान दियौँ भने, कहिले त आफै अचम्ममा पर्छौ । जस्तै हाम्रो छालामा हुने छिद्र, हातमा बनेको बांगो–टिंगो रेखा, जसले अंगलाई पूर्णता दिएको हुन्छ । प्रत्येक व्यक्तिको नङ फरक–फरक हुन्छ । हात वा खुट्टा दुवै नङको आकार फरक हुन्छ, त्यस्तै एउटा चीज सबैमा हुन्छ, त्यो हो नङमा बनेको अर्ध चन्द्राकार ।के तपाईले कहिल्यै नङमा बनेको सेतो अर्ध–चन्द्राकारको महत्वको बारेमा सोच्नुभएको छ ? यस आकारलाई अंग्रेजीमा ‘हाफ मुन’ भनिन्छ । खासमा यो अर्ध–चन्द्रकार निशान सेतो नहुने भन्ने गरिएको छ । यो नङले गर्दा सेता रंगको देखिएको हो । यस निशान नङको मुनितिर हुन्छ, तर यो ढाकिएकाले नङको कारण सेतो देखिने हुन्छ ।

यो निशान जति धेरै सेतो, चम्किलो देखिन्छ उति नै व्यक्ति पनि शारीरिक एवं मानसिक रुपले तन्दुरुस्त मानिन्छ । तर, हल्का मात्रै सेतो देखिएमा वा पहेलो देखिएमा व्यक्ति भित्र विषाक्त पदार्थ बढेको संकेत गर्छ ।

रमेश हतुवाली, काठमाडौँ, १८ माघ, पूर्वी नेपालका चर्चित लोकगायक रामकुमार राईको निधन भएको छ । कलेजो रोगबाट पीडित ४७ वर्षीय गायक राईको विराटनगरस्थित नोबेल अस्पतालमा सोमवार निधन भएको हो । मोरङ्ग बोरावन निवासी राई विगत पाँच महिनादेखि कलेजोको उपचार गराईरहेका थिए । गायक राईले २०४८ सालतिर गाएको 'रसैको माया बस्यो ख्याल ख्याल गर्दैमा...' बोलको गीत तत्कालीन यूवापूस्तामाझ सर्वाधिक लोकप्रिय रहेको थियो ।  धनकुटा जिल्लाको मुगा गाउँमा जन्मिएका गायक राई ४० को दशकतिर मोरङ्ग झरेका थिए । होचो कद, सरल एवम् मिलनसार स्वभावका राई नेपाली लोकभाखा र लोक संस्कृतिको संरक्षण तथा सम्बद्र्धनमा सञ्चार क्षेत्रले महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निर्वाह गर्नुपर्ने मान्यता राख्थे । गायक राईले 'बोराबाँध', 'रसैको माया बस्यो ख्याल ख्याल गर्दैमा', 'लाग्छ नि झल्को', 'झन झन मीठो', 'भुल्केको बजार' लगायतका गीत तथा एल्बम बजारमा ल्याएका थिए ।  पूर्वी नेपालको कोशी एफ.एम., सप्तकोशी एफ.एम. लगायतका स्थानीय रेडियो र रेडियो नेपाल क्षेत्रीय प्रसारण केन्द्र धनकुटाबाट श्रोताको सर्वाधिक अनुरोधमा रामकुमार राईका गीतहरु बज्ने गरेको चर्चित गायक तुलसी पराजुली सम्झन्छन् । रामकुमार राई नेपाली लोकगायन क्षेत्रका बिर्सन नसकिने कलाकार भएको      वरिष्ठ गायक तथा संगीतकार शम्भु राई बताउँछन् । गायक राईका एक छोरा र श्रीमती छन् ।

पीडितको अनुरोधपछि प्रधानमन्त्री कार्यालयले परराष्ट्र र श्रम मन्त्रालयसँग समन्वय गरी अलपत्र नेपालीलाई नेपाल झिकाउन कुटनीतिक पहल गरेको थियो । त्यसलगत्तै कतारमा रहेको नेपाली दूतावासले थप पहल गरी उनीहरु माघ ११ गते नेपाल आइपुगेका छन् ।

प्रधानमन्त्री कार्यालयले पीडितले म्यानपावरमा भुक्तान गरेको पैसा फिर्ता दिलाउने पहल समेत थालेको प्रधानमन्त्रीको सचिवालयले जनाएको छ ।

काठमाडौं, १४ माघ, कमिसन पाउने भएकैले तस्करीको सुन बरामदका अधिकांश घटनामा सुराकी को थियो भन्ने तथ्य सुरुमै आउथ्यो । पुस २१ मा त्रिभुवन अन्तराष्ट्रिय विमानस्थलको भन्सारबाट पास भएको ३३ किलो पाँच सय ७७ ग्राम ४० मिलिग्राम सुन नेपाल प्रहरीको केन्द्रीय अनुसन्धान ब्युरोले सार्वजनिक गर्ने वित्तिकै सुराकी को हो भन्ने प्रश्न उठिहाल्यो । तर ब्युरो प्रमुख डिआईजी नवराज सिलवालले गौशाला बृत्तमा सुन सार्वजनिक गरेलगत्तै भने, ‘बरामद सुनको कुनै सुराकी छैन ।’ सुराकी बिना सिलवालले कसरी त्यत्ति ठूलो परिमाणमा सुन बरामद गरे त रु यो प्रश्नमा सिलवालले जे बताए त्यसले सुन तस्करीको संगठित स्वरुपलाई मात्रै बुझाउँदैन, बरामद सुनको पर्दा पछिका केही पहेलीलाई पनि बुझ्न सघाउँछ । सिलवालले तीन महिना अघिको घटना सुनाए । उनका अनुसार लन्डन स्कुल अफ ईकोनोमिक्समा पढेर नेपाल फर्केका एक युवाले तारन्तर फोन गरेर सिलवाललाई भेट्न खोजिरहेका थिए । अफिसमै आएर भेटेका ती युवाले सुन तस्करीका कारण अर्थतन्त्र चौपट भएको, बजारबाट डलर अवैध रुपमा बाहिरिएको र अवैध सुन भित्रिरहेको तथ्य सुनाएका थिए । सिलवालका अनुसार ती युवाको दावी थियो, चीनको केरूङ नाकाबाट भित्रिएको अवैध सुनले यस्तो भएको होइन, विमानस्थलबाटै भित्रिएको ठूलो परिमाणको सुनले खतरा निम्त्याएको हो । तन्नेरीको त्यस्तो तर्क र दाबीपछि आफू अनौठो अन्यौलमा परेको सिलवाल बताउँछन् । उनले भने, ‘त्यसपछिका केही दिन म आफैं विमानस्थलमा रेकी गर्न गएँ । मलाई देख्दा कर्मचारीहरु बढी नै सर्तक भएजस्ता देखिन्थे ।’ पछि सिलवालले थप सूचना पाए, विमानस्थलबाट बाहिरिने सुन दुबईबाट आउँछ । त्यो सूचनालगत्तै उनले अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय कार्यशालाहरुमा भेट भएका दुबईका केही प्रहरी अधिकारीको सम्पर्क पहिल्याए । दुबई पुगेर ती अधिकारीलाई भेट्न पाए के हुन्थ्यो भन्ने लागिरहेका बेला सिलवालले दुबईमै नेपाल फिल्म टेक्निकल एशोसियनको नेफ्टा अवार्डमा जान निम्ता पाए । नेफ्टाका एक आयोजकले अन्तिम समयमा मात्रै सिलवालको नाम थपिएको पुष्टी गरे । पुस ८ मा नेफ्टा अवार्ड थाप्न दुबई पुगे पनि सिलवालको उद्देश्य अर्कै थियो । दुबई यात्राकै बेला सिलवाल छड्किएर दुवईका प्रहरी अधिकारीलाई भेट्न पुगे । सिलवालले सुनाए, ‘नेपालका सबै कुरा बताएपछि ती अधिकारीले सुन कसले नेपाल लैजान्छ भन्ने सूचना दिन तयार भए ।’ युएईमा सुनको खरिदको सीमा तोकिएको छैन । सुन खरिदमा सम्पत्तिको स्रोत खुलाउनुपर्दैन र किनेको सुन विश्वभर जहाँ पनि सजिलै लैजान छुट छ । त्यसैले युएई सुन तस्करका निम्ति प्रमुख गन्तव्य हो । सिलवालका अनुसार त्यही स्रोतले पुस २१ अघि पनि ठूलो परिमाणमा सुन आएको सूचना दिएको थियो । तर सुन बोकेर आउने व्यक्ति विमानस्थलबाट कसरी छक्काएर उम्कियो भन्ने ब्युरोले भेउ नै पाउन सकेन । ब्युरोको अनुसार सुन लिएर आउने व्यक्ति कि त कुनै सरकारी गाडीमा बसेर बाहिरियो कि विमानस्थलभित्रै बसेर अर्को दिन निस्कियो । त्यसपछि ब्युरोले पाएको सुचना थियो, यही ३३ किलो पाँच सय ७७ ग्राम ४० मिलिग्राम सुनको । युएईको सारजहाँबाट एअर अरेबियाको फ्लाईट नम्बर जी ९०५३७ बाट २ः१५ मा उडेको जहाज राती ९ बजे विमानस्थल ल्याण्ड गर्‍यो। ९ः५० मा बाहिर निस्किएका दुई व्यक्ति हातेझोला मात्रै बोकेर निस्के । विनालगेज ती व्यक्ति निस्केपछि तिनीहरुको फलोअपमा प्रहरी रातभरी खटियो । ती दुई कोटेश्वर पुगेर बास बसे र भोलिपल्ट विहान दस बजे ती फेरि विमानस्थल छिरे । दिउँसो दस मिनेटको फरकमा तिनीहरु विमानस्थलबाट ट्याक्सी लिएर बाहिर निस्के । ब्युरो प्रहरीले विमानस्थलको गेट बाहिर ती दुईमध्ये एक जनालाई समाते पनि अर्को व्यक्ति उम्किन सफल भयो । सुन लिन निजी कार हाँकेर आएका मोरङका दिनबन्धु थापा र धनुषाका सन्तोष काफ्लेलाई पनि प्रहरीले तत्कालै पक्राउ गर्‍यो । सिलवालले भने, ‘उम्केका ती व्यक्तिको पहिचान भइसकेको छ । शाहीसँगै बारम्बार सुन लिन जाने मान्छे हुन् ती ।’ ब्युरोको अनुसन्धानमा शाहीले यसअघि पनि दसपटक भन्दा बढी ठुलो परिमाणमा सुन ल्याइसकेको देखिन्छ । यसले विमानस्थलको बाटो हुँदै सुन तस्करी नियमित चलिरहेको बुझाउँछ । सुन पक्राउपछिका २२ दिनमा प्रहरीका विमानस्थल भन्सारमा कार्यरत तीन कर्मचारी, सुन रिसिभरमा संग्लन रहेको सुचनाका आधारमा काभ्रेको पनौतीबाट दुईजना पक्राउ परिसकेका छन् । सिआईबीका एक अनुसन्धान अधिकारी उक्त सुन भारत लैजानकै निम्ती ल्याइएको बताउँछन् । त्यसो त त्यही दिन भारतको दिल्लीस्थित ईन्दिरा गान्धी अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विमानस्थलबाट दुबई लैजान आटिएको एक करोड भारतीय रुपियाँ बराबरको साउदी मुद्रा रियाल र युएई मुद्रा दिराम पनि बरामद भएको थियो ।  उच्च सुरक्षा रहेको विमानस्थलको टर्मिनल तीनको शौचालयमा नगद रहेको ब्याग साट्न लागेका बेला अवैध विदेशी मुद्रा सहित दुई पक्राउ परेका थिए । भारतीय संचारमाध्यमले नेपालमा बरामद भएको अवैध सुनको आयत र भारतबाट जान लागेको अवैध मुद्राको गन्तव्य र एकै ठाउँमा रहेको भन्दै त्यसको ‘कनेक्सन’ खोजेका थिए । (कान्तिपुर दैनिकबाट)

काठमाडौँ, १२ माघ, सोह्रखुट्टेमा आज बिहान भएको सडक दुर्घटनामा २२ वर्षीय श्यामबहादुर प्रधानको मृत्यु भएको छ । महानगरीय ट्राफिक प्रहरी महाशाखाका अनुसार करिब बिहान २ बजेतिर बा ३ ख ४५७९ नंको टिपर पल्टेर बा १ ज ७८८३ नंको ट्याक्सीलाई च्यापेपछि ट्याक्सी चालक प्रधान गम्भीर घाइते भएका थिए । काभ्रे स्थायी घर भएका प्रधानलाई घाइते अवस्थामा प्रहरीले त्रिवि शिक्षण अस्पतालमा उपचारका लागि लगेको र उपचारका क्रममा बिहान सवा ३ बजे मृत्यु भएको महाशाखाले जनाएको छ । दुर्घटनामा संलग्न टिपर चालक फरार रहेकाले प्रहरीले खोजी गरिरहेको र टिपर नियन्त्रणमा लिएर बग्गिखानामा राखिएको छ ।

भक्तपुर, १२ माघ, सिन्धुपाल्चोकबाट सूर्यविनायकतर्फ आउँदै गरेको बा ४ प ६९८३ नंको टिपरले सोही दिशामा जाँदै गरेको बा ७९ ख नं. को मोटरसाइकललाई ठक्कर दिँदा एक जनाको मृत्यु भएको छ । आज भएको दुर्घटनामा सिन्धुपाल्चोक ठूलो सिरुवारी बस्ने ३८ वर्षीया विमला बस्नेतको मृत्यु भएको महानगरीय प्रहरी बृत्त जगातीका प्रहरी निरीक्षक राजकुमार सिलवालले जानकारी दिए ।  दुर्घटनामा मृतक बस्नेतका श्रीमान् एवम् मोटरसाइकल चालक ३८ वर्षीय रामचन्द्र बस्नेत भने गम्भीर घाइते भएका छन् । उनको मध्यपुर अस्पतालमा उपचार भइरहेको प्रहरीले जानकारी दिएको छ । दुर्घटना गराउने सिन्धुपाल्चोक फुल्पिङकोट बस्ने २७ वर्षीय टिपर चालक वाङ्जुङ्ग तामाङ र टिपरलाई प्रहरीले नियन्त्रणमा लिएको छ ।

An Amateur scientist can shockingly take back-to-back bites from the world’s deadliest snakes on purpose and claims to be making himself immune from their venom. Divorced Tim Friede, 37, has self-inflicted more than 160 bites in 16 years of research and is hoping his experiments will help to develop a human vaccine for snake bites. To prove his self-immunization theory works, Tim from Wisconsin, USA, recently took back-to-back bites from two of the world’s deadliest snakes – a taipan and a black mamba whose bite can kill in minutes. Unsurprisingly, his obsession with saving the tens of thousands of lives lost every year to snakebites has nearly killed him on a number of occasions and also cost him his marriage. His wife Beth Friede, 35, divorced him in October after 20 years together when she finally had enough of Tim’s snake obsession. Despite the controversial nature of his experiments Tim does have some backing from the scientific community. Dr Brian Hanley, a PhD Microbiologist from the University of California, says a test suggests Tim now has twice the number of antibodies and hopes his company Butterfly Sciences will help him develop his vaccine and find investors to get it into the field. KATHMANDU, Jan 25:The government attorneys and trade unions at the offices under the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), who had launched protests against the Judicial Council’s (JC) recommendations for the appointment of judges at High Courts, have decided to withdraw their protests from Wednesday. After the JC agreed to consider government attorneys while making recommendations for the appointment of judges in the future and also agreed to address their other demands, the agitating government attorney and trade unions have decided to withdraw their protests and return to work from Wednesday a, informed Attorney General Raman Kumar Shrestha. He had openly and publicly supported the protests of the government attorneys. “Representatives of the trade unions and I jointly held talks with Minister for Law and Justice Ajaya Shankar Nayak on Tuesday. After the minister assured that the JC will consider the government attorneys while making recommendations for judges in the future and that it will take initiatives to address their other demands immediately, the government attorneys have agreed to call off their protests and resume the work,” Attorney General Shrestha said. He said that the government attorneys decided to withdraw their protests after he assured to move forward a bill on the perks and facilities to be provided to them. The JC will issue a statement on Wednesday stating that it is serious about addressing the demands of the government attorneys and following this the protests will be withdrawn, said Shrestha. Protesting against the recent appointment of judges at the High Courts, the government attorneys had decided to boycott court proceedings including hearings across the country from Sunday. They had said that the JC’s recent recommendations for the appointment of 80 judges at the seven High Courts and their extended benches were not free and fair as the JC picked just one government attorney for judgeship. They have been demanding that at least 50 percent of the government attorneys should be included while making recommendations for judges. Similarly, they had also argued that the recommendations were made in the absence of two of the council members and therefore did not fulfill the constitutional provisions and the provisions of the Judicial Council Act.
